Cassi and George’s Micro-wedding was filled with firsts for me as a photographer including the first wedding of the 2021 season, and my first micro-wedding! Can I just say maybe I like it better?! Or maybe Cassi and George’s day was just that perfect because it so was. They were gifted with the most beautiful early spring day in March which gave way for glorious temperatures, golden light and a dreamy, cool evening.

During their wedding planning journey, they ended up becoming close friends with the DJ they had hired, Castles in the Sky. When searching for a venue, they opted for a backyard wedding at their newfound friends’ house in New Jersey. The setting was just perfect! It was a quiet morning with Cassi and her bestie, Ashley, and Cassi’s mom all getting their hair and makeup done. I took some time to shoot Cassi’s details which were just beautiful. The moody red and earthy green florals were just beautiful against her jewelry. In addition to her own jewelry, Cassi’s new mom-in-law, Kathy, gifted Cassi her mom’s ring as well. MY HEART.

Soon enough, the wedding party started to arrive and the day got rolling. Cassi’s mom helped her into her beautiful Maggie Sottero gown while Ashley helped her with the veil. After, we did a quick first look with Cassi and her dad which instantly had me in tears. At that point, Cassi was ready to meet George at the end of the aisle.

Under a big white tent, Cassi’s parents walked her down the aisle to a teary-eyed George waiting for his bride. When I’m telling you the emotion that filled the space, even with a fraction of guests there, was so real. Their officiant, the second half of Castles in the Sky, had everyone laughing during the ceremony. Cassi and George had written their own vows which had me crying YET AGAIN. They were sweet, funny, heartfelt and so genuine.

After Cassi and George were officially pronounced husband and wife, it was time for a quick drink and onto portraits! Their wedding party had to be one of my favorites I’ve ever worked with. They had me laughing sooo much! And their model poses were just beyond anything I could’ve expected!! Also calling myself out here to say, I couldn’t stop saying, “okay everyone smile at me!” which would be returned with a resounding, “no, smize at you!!” which had me dying. Lastly, Cassi and George were able to do their portraits just as the sun was setting. With a gorgeous field behind them, that golden hour light, and just-married feeling, nothing could compare.

Once portraits were done, it was onto celebrating! They had an amazing food truck come in to cater which was sooo cool! They got to spend the evening partying with their friends and family taking in all the love. Fortunately I got to hang out for a little bit because coincidentally, the groom’s lil sis is my BFF! I’m so glad I did because I got to hear two AMAZING speeches from George, the groom’s dad, and Ashley.

It was such a chill day filled with laughter, amazing music and even better company. Cassi and George THANK YOU for being awesome, for being truly in love and creating such a special day in the midst of whatever this past year has been. You two will hold a special place in my lil photographer’s heart! CONGRATS!!!
