This evening with Steph and Shawn was so magical. I had been wanting to shoot at this location in Minnewaska State Park for a while now, and when Steph and Shawn said they really wanted to be around water for their session, I knew it’d be perfect! The golden hour light coming over the falls and reflecting on the water was gorgeous. We had an amazing time walking through the water, climbing between the rocks and trees and just taking in the beautiful scenery.
The whole session, Steph and Shawn were amazing! The heat plus the bugs did not make for the ideal time, but they powered through it. Not to mention, getting in the water helped us cool off too! Wandering around Minnewaska with Steph and Shawn was the perfect way to accentuate their relationship. They are laid back, adventurous, outdoorsy and this session showed that perfectly.
Steph and Shawn’s relationship started in high school where he would drive her to school each day, and they would end their nights in a field looking at the stars. The best nights they have include sushi, a good movie, and ending it with ice cream. And nothing brings them together more than their pup, Piper.
Their proposal happened in their favorite place, Ocean City, Maryland. Steph and Shawn woke up early to explore Assateague Island where they admired the herds of wild ponies. Steph was reading about the birds of the bay when Shawn called her over. She went RUNNING because she thought he spotted more ponies. Instead, he led her out to a secluded beach on the bay and proposed. It was quiet and intimate and absolutely perfect for them.
Hanging out with Steph and Shawn was so much fun, I looove how easy going they are! You can see how they balance each other out perfectly. Shawn reminds Steph to slow down and not take life so seriously, while she just radiates happiness which he loves. They are both so excited to marry their best friend and celebrate with all of their family and friends.
